The Academy of Special Needs Planners (ASNP) offers an annual meeting for attorneys and others who assist families with loved ones experiencing a disability. In May 2019 Fitzwater Law attorney, Melanie Marmion, spoke at ASNP’s annual conference in Chicago.

We are proud of Melanie Marmion, for being asked to return as an ASNP speaker. Her early background as a college professor enabled her to explain the law, even technical aspects of taxes and public benefits, in a way that is understandable and practical. This year her session was called “Exploring the Rubik’s Cube of Tax Issues in 3rd Party Special Needs Planning.” In it Melanie explained gift tax, income tax, estate tax, generation-skipping tax, and the other issues that arise when funding a Special Needs Trust with a retirement plan. We are lucky to have someone with such a wealth of knowledge at Fitzwater Law.
